Who You Are:
Are you passionate about dining, always thinking of exciting ways to create new dishes, keeping up with the latest trends and driven to develop and encourage those that report to you? Then we have the job for you! The TWH Social Restaurant Chef is responsible for creating a culture of innovation, developing menus, all food purchases, recipes, and supervision of staff. You will play an integral role in managing both food and labor costs for the department. You will maintain the highest professional food quality and sanitation standards, while ensuring our menus are locally and sustainably inspired.
What You Will Do:
- Manage the day-to-day operations and assignments of the restaurant kitchen staff.
- Collaborate with the Culinary Team on menu development, tastings, and efficiencies in labour and food cost.
- Communicate and enforce policies and procedures with all staff.
- Ensure all staff are properly trained and have the tools and equipment needed to effectively carry out their job functions and meet productivity standards.
- Responsible for purchasing, inventory and pricing updates.
- Develop menu concepts for restaurant and private dining rooms in conjunction with the Culinary Team. Menus to be updated seasonally.
- Maintain updated and accurate costing and documentation of all menu items.
- Ensure the security and proper storage of food and beverage products.
- Maintain kitchen inventory and equipment.
- Replenish supplies, inventory, uniforms, etc. in a timely and efficient manner, and to minimize waste.
- Responsible for performance management of all restaurant kitchen staff.
- Responsible for scheduling of kitchen staff and approving payroll.
- Participate in the preparation of annual budgets and the setting of departmental goals.
- Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments.
- Maintain a kitchen cleaning schedule, including equipment, storage areas, towels, etc.
- Ensure the proper use and input of kitchen prep sheets.
- Liaise with Culinary Team to ensure proper and full sharing of information.
- Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety standards.
- Assist the Culinary & Leadership Team in preparing team meetings, training, and team building.
- Assist with recruiting, hiring, and training of new staff members.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Your Skill Set Includes:

- At least 2 years in a Senior Chef position
- Culinary Degree / Red Seal Certified or Equivalent

What You Will Bring:
- A strong knowledge of cooking methods, ingredients, equipment’s and kitchen procedures.
- Owns and maintains their own tools.
- Maintain procedures to (1) ensure the security and proper storage of food products, kitchen inventory and equipment, (2) replenish supplies, inventory etc. in a timely manner, (3) minimize food waste.
- Is Food Handler Certified.
- A prior experience as a cook in a similar environment, and demonstrates technical and theoretical knowledge.
- Understands the importance of working clean, safely, effectively and respectfully in a team setting.
- Help maintain a kitchen cleaning schedule, including equipment and storage.
- Assist in managing the day-to-day operations and assignments of the kitchen staff.
Job Responsibilities:
- Working closely with Executive Chef, Restaurant Chef and FOH team to ensure Food Quality and guest satisfaction.
- Aware of any contract details and ensures cooks know duties and procedures to be followed for smooth execution.
- Assist with ordering and maintenance of Food Products as well as ensuring proper HACCP and WHIMIS standards are met.
- Re-enforcing cleanup duties and ensuring cooks are working in a clean and organized manner.
- Discipline and ongoing instruction & mentorship of staff members failing to adhere to kitchen etiquette and standards.
- Cleanup and maintenance of kitchen and related areas.
Education & Experience:
- Excellent communication
- Food Handlers Certificate
- Good leadership skills
- Good planning and problem-solving skills
- At least 2 years’ experience in a similar position
- Ability to handle multiple tasks
